ART GALLERY PONTRESINA
The ART GALLERY PONTRESINA opened in 2016 and has since established itself as a vibrant cultural venue. It focuses on themes that reflect the diversity of the Alpine region: from nature, landscape, and cuisine to social issues.
The gallery is an open space for guests, locals, and artists, and presents itself to an international audience in a tourist environment.
Changing exhibitions, inspiring events and workshops, and the active promotion of art and knowledge make the gallery an integral part of the Engadin cultural scene.
The aim is not only to exhibit art, but also to make it accessible in an uncomplicated, emotional, and exciting environment.
PARTNERSHIP WITH STALLA MADULAIN
Starting in winter 2025/26, the ART GALLERY PONTRESINA will be collaborating with the renowned STALLA MADULAIN. The young gallery, located in a stable that is over 500 years old, is considered an insider tip and has a reputation that extends far beyond the Engadin. The successful gallery owner, Gian Tumasch Appenzeller, will also curate the exhibitions at the Art Gallery Pontresina in the future – a wonderful collaboration between
like-minded people.

Artist Talk
13 February 2026, 5 pm
Building on his earlier video sculptures and etchings, in which he re-staged Steiner's photographic locations, Amshu Chukki now presents a new group of works consisting of drawings and sculptures. These deepen his dialogue with the forms, structures, and rhythms of the Engadin landscape.
The drawings with silver and gold overlays capture the Engadin from memory. They capture those fleeting moments when sunlight makes the snow glow – a tribute to Steiner's masterful use of light, reinterpreted in a tactile, shimmering medium.
The works are complemented by bronze casts of pine cones and pieces of bark collected in the Engadin. Transient natural forms are transformed here into lasting sculptures – symbols of memory, time, and permanence.
With this exhibition, Chukki opens a dialogue between past and present: about light, landscape, and the question of how we see, remember, and reshape nature.
